Automatic online Thai machine translation service
If you want to try an English-to-Thai machine translation (not Thai-to-English), the best and best known one is Parsit, created by NECTEC.
It is a nice service, however ... some expats have said "Oh, I just ran it through Parsit and it came out fine!" How would they know? Could they read the pretty Thai? No. Did they double-check the translation with an English-literate Thai? No. The NECTEC service is nice, but is mostly used by Thais with poor English doing casual web surfing.
Parsit also has a longstanding Thai-to-English translation project, but it does not work well. Indeed, just their Thai "word break" WBR system struggles, as you can see for yourself on the above link.
However, the online dictionary at www.Thai2English.com can "translate" complete lines of Thai into English by providing a definition of each component word as well as a convenient pronunciation guide. This free service can often be enough for basic on-the-fly translation needs for comprehension purposes, but is not designed to be a comprehensive online translation tool.
Official Thai government enquiries, private investigations etc
If you need for someone to retrieve official government documents in remote provinces, or any kind of Thai language information from almost anywhere, then we recommend you get in contact with Thailand Private Investigators at www.ThailandPI.com
Information guide about Thailand for business travelers or expats
The best guide to Thailand for business people or expats wanting to live in Thailand and do business here (not tourism nor a directory of businesses) is at www.ThailandGuru.com It has vast amounts of practical information for travelers and expats alike. Many questions people ask us are answered on Thailand Guru, but hardly anywhere else.
